Behind-the-Scenes: Designing Original Models – Heart Arrow

Ever since I started my full-time job, I feel like I’ve been neglecting this website and my YouTube channel. Although it may not seem that way (because I still upload videos on a weekly basis, for the most part, and am “active” on social media), there’s a lot of “behind-the-scenes” that I have NOT been doing. One example is folding modular units. I used to do many more kusudamas, 3D models, etc., but lately, I really just don’t have the time/energy. 🙁 Another thing I HAVEN’T been doing is DESIGNING.

I only started designing my own models in March 2014 (with the somewhat-lame Top Hat being the first), but I do find it fun and rewarding. Above, pictured, are Hearts with Arrows Bookmark. I’ve been fiddling with this one for a while, but only “finalized” it yesterday. I’m happy with it because it can point to a specific line on any book that you are reading and NOT SLIP OFF (it’s a secret how that happens, but you’ll eventually find out, I promise!). I plan to film the tutorial for later this afternoon, to be published in, oh, I don’t know, January??? YES, I usually film wayyy in advance, in case anyone is wondering!

Speaking of filming early, the holidays are coming up and I have LOTS to share!! Most of the upcoming tutorials will be similar, and less time consuming – not because I don’t care, but because I don’t have the time. BUT, you can still learn from them, and they are still super fun. 🙂 So, STAY TUNED, the first holiday video is coming NOV 7TH!
